As I blogged earlier, I got myself a Symphony GoFox F15 phone which runs the darling of open source, Firefox OS. This phone is now very cheap, new at BDT 2000. Insane, right? If you are a young passionate developer, now is the right time to buy it, and mingle with this amazing creation.
It was priced way more, more than BDT 4000, when I got mine. I got mine for BDT 3100, used, from bikroy.com. I have other android devices, but I intentionally bought it to experiment with it. Try new ROMs, root it etc. But for that I need to get to the recovery mode.
Unfortunately, the recovery mode did not summon in my copy of the handset. Why? I didn't know for nearly half a year! Don't worry, now I know. And I'll share the way. But first, let me explain why you need to get to recovery mode:
If you hard reset, you will lose all of your apps, their settings and maybe everything. So please backup before doing that. As you can see I cannot be responsible for your data. Do it in your own risk.
2. After you turned it off, hold the power button
3. After 2 seconds hold both power button and volume up button. You will see just a Symphone logo (not an animation, just a still logo). When you see it, release all the buttons.
4. After some seconds you will see Firefox OS and an "!" sign in red at the bottom of it. When you see it, press the volume up button. This will bring you to a screen titled "Android system recovery < KOT49H"
If you're struggling with these instructions, consult this video that follows:
This video helped me a lot. Thanks to the maker of the video.
When you enter into recovery mode, the touch on your screen will not work. It is normal. To select a menu item use volume up and volume down button. To click a menu item, use power button.
[ If you reset, you will lose all of your apps, their settings and maybe everything. So please backup before doing that. As you can see I cannot be responsible for your data. Do it in your own risk. ]
If you tried the above instructions and still can't enter the recovery mode, try reset from settings:
1. Turn on your handset the way you normally do.
2. Go to Settings -> Device Information -> More Information. You will find a button titled "Reset Phone". Tap that button.
Now try the step 1 instructions to enter into recovery mode.
I am very happy to be able to enter into recovery mode. Maybe now I'll try to do more advanced stuff with my device, like installing Firefox OS 2.1 rom.

Step-2: If it doesn't work
I have been through this situation for a loooonng time. I followed every piece of instruction I could get from the internet and still can't enter recovery mode. Then somehow I did a reset from the Firefox OS settings and boom! I could go into recovery mode without problem![ If you reset, you will lose all of your apps, their settings and maybe everything.
